About THE PROJECT

  • YemenVR project It is an individual project that has not been supported by any entity or organization to protect the historical heritage of Yemen and to preserve the archaeological sites by virtual and augmented reality technology.
  • Modeling historical sites and artifacts to preserve their sustainability to document the Yemeni civilization from attempts to obliterate and lose artifacts and prevent their sale in international auctions and museums.

  • The project will help in restoring the destroyed artifacts as a result of war and conflicts, by designing digital models and making use of artificial intelligence technology, which will make it possible to restore them.
  • It will also contribute to archiving Yemeni civilization for future generations, preserving it digitally, and raising awareness for its protection and preservation.

  • The project phases simulate the most important sites and in the eras of the Yemeni civilization to virtual reality and augmented reality.
  •  As a contemporary and modern experience to dive into the Yemeni civilization and to be a starting nucleus for the completion of this great project, we look forward to contributing and supporting the implementation of this great project, which requires great capabilities, effort, and dedication to implement it.

  • A list will be drawn up of the entities and people who smuggle monuments out of Yemen, who are often associated with organizations that act as intermediaries for their sale and delivery through artifacts collectors, and agencies that operate international auctions and museums.
  • We reached the accounts of brokers who sell Yemeni artifacts via Twitter, Facebook, and other social media.

  • The challenge is the real effort to complete the project and facing the difficulties of governmental support or through international organizations to contribute to this project.
  • Working with self-effort, without a team will make the pace of work very slow as it is individual work.

  • I also aspire in the advanced stages of the project to make a virtual map of Yemen, which will allow viewing the archaeological areas on the map of Yemen from a virtual space and marking them to enter the archaeological sites according to the governorate and the region in which they are located, and viewing them using virtual reality technology, and it will serve as a scientific, educational, tourist and digital archiving reference.

  • The idea of this project dates back to 2004 as a digital map of the tourist and archaeological areas in Yemen. It was presented in the name of Yemen Gate to the City of Communication and Information Technology. A simplified model was made and presented with flash technology, but it did not complete the method at that time, and after we witnessed the destruction and looting artifacts of Iraq and Syria, which had a great impact on the design To implement the idea of this project, it was worked on in its current form in 2018, and the website was launched on June 9, 2019, with self-effort and without support from any organization.
